Mike Brown

Mike Brown was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, and went to Saguaro High School. Brown was among the top defensive backs and running backs in the state. He attended the University of Nebraska where his play at strong safety was outstanding.  His senior year he was an Associated Press All-American.

The Chicago Bears selected Brown in the second round of the 2000 draft. Brown played safety for the Bears from 2000-2008. His early career was outstanding, but then he experienced a variety of injuries that took their toll on him and his play. Brown’s teammates gave him high marks for his play and his understanding of defensive play and positions. Certainly when he was not on the field, he was sorely missed. He was an All Pro in 2001 and invited to the Pro Bowl in 2005. For the Bears he had 17 interceptions, 523 tackles, 8 forced fumbles, and 5 sacks. Brown was named on the 100 Greatest Bears of All Time list.
