Wilber Marshall was born in Titusville, Florida, about 20 miles from Cape Canaveral and the John F. Kennedy Space Center. Fittingly, Marshall attended Astronaut High School. He went the University of Florida on football scholarship. He played linebacker at Florida and is consider one of the best players in their storied tradition.

Marshall was drafted in the first round of the 1984 draft by the Bears and played right linebacker for the Bears through the 1987 season. On the Bears 1985 Championship Team that won Super Bowl XX, he was feared by opposition.   He signed with the Washington Redskins in 1988 and played in another Championship season in 1991 winning Super Bowl XXVI. He moved on to the Oilers in 1993, the Cardinals in 1994, and finished with the Jets in 1995. Marshall was an All Pro in 1986 and 1992. He was invited to three Pro Bowls. Marshall retired with 23 sacks and 1,043 tackles.  He named as one of the Top 100 Bears of All Time.
