Larry Morris was 6-foot-2 and 226 pounds when he played with the Bears from 1959-1965. He was born in Decatur Georgia and went to Boys High School  (now known as Decatur High School after the Boys High School was merged with the Girl’s High School). He went to Georgia Tech where he played center and linebacker for 4 seasons including 1952 when Tech earned a share of the National Championship. Drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the first round of 1955, Morris moved on to the Bears in 1959 and played in Chicago for George Halas for 7 seasons including the historic Bears 1963 Championship year. Morris was named MVP for the 1963 Championship Game in which the Bears played the New York Giants.  Morris is credited with nagging and disturbing the Giants game plan by pressuring  the opposition New York Giants’ great quarterback Y. A. Title. Morris was named one of the Top 100 Bears of All Time–validating his place among the greats.

In 1963, the Bears boasted one of the best linebacking groups in their history:  Larry Morris, Bill George and Joe Fortunato.

Morris finished his career with the Atlanta Falcons in 1966 in their inaugural year.
