Matt Patricia is the Head Coach of the Detroit Lions. He worked with Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots from 2004 to 2017. For 7 years he was the Defensive Coordinator for the Patriots. That is a long time to spend as an understudy. But Patricia is a brilliant engineer and helped bring new tools to the Patriots. He has helped Belichick and no doubt he has learned a lot about winning in the NFL. Patricia is going into his second year as Head Coach of the Detroit Lions. He is going to ask his team to do things his way and sometimes that is hard for pros with a new coach.
Bob Quinn is the General Manager of the Detroit Lions. He is going into his third year as GM. Quin worked in scouting for the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2016. No doubt he learned a lot of about identifying and acquiring great talent. Quinn has his ideas on working with Patricia to build the team, the system they want. He is following a plan, but he is not inclined to work too hard to sell his vision to the press. He and Patricia want the work they do to sell itself.
Darrell Bevell is the Offensive Coordinator of the Detroit Lions. This is his first year. From 2011-2017, he was Offensive Coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks. He has over 18 years of experience and was a big part of Seattle success. Bevell looks like the right guy to take some of the heat off the Lions excellent quarterback, Matthew Stafford. He is expected to create a much stronger running team and focus on shorter passes that will help bring the team success.
Paul Pasqualoni is in his second year as Defensive Coordinator of the Detroit Lions. He has 47 years of coaching experience. He will have to work with Patricia to insure a defense that meets his boss’s ideas and experience.
With the personnel that the Lions have in these coaches and administrators, one would have to imagine that something solid is cooking.
