Upright Intention Throughout the Nation
Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18
From the Navarre Bible commentary,
We know that Jesus Christ “teaches that true
Devotion calls for sincerity and
A right intention, intimacy with
God without parading one’s piety.”
I’ve already given up alcohol,
Candy, desserts, sodas, and tobacco.
Many years ago, maybe last century,
Cardinal George wrote a column in the
“Catholic New World” about giving up
Resentments for Lent. It is altogether
Fitting and proper that I should do this.
For each Lent, self-denial is back in style.
If we do our best, God will do the rest.
