Christ Arose and Appeared to the Women
Matthew 28:8-15
Jesus first appeared to holy women
Because they had been faithful and valiant.
Then Jesus appeared to the Apostles.
He had not seen them since the Last Supper.
Matthew avoids giving minor details.
The Resurrection was magnificent.
It was extraordinary.
Easter Sunday is a Hall of Fame day.
The soldiers who were stationed at the Tomb
Were given bribes to say that the body
Of Jesus had been stolen. Matthew wrote
In glorious, humble disagreement.
Soldiers of Christ do not take bribes, but we’re
Allowed to accept Confirmation gifts.
