Christ Taught Before He Performed Miracles

Matthew 5:1-12

From the Navarre Bible commentary,

We know that “The Beatitudes proclaim

How to be fortunate, blessed.”  Jesus

Christ sustains hope in the midst of our trials.

The meek “do not give in to bitterness.”

The merciful overlook faults and help out.

The peacemakers have inner peace and get

Themselves and others reconciled to God.

The Sermon on the Mount took fifteen min-

utes.  I wasn’t there, but I have typed it

And timed it because I wanted to know

How long it took for the greatest sermon.

Living the Beatitudes is as easy

As an eight-step handshake.  Let’s demonstrate.
