Herod is Curious about Jesus

Luke 9:7-9

From the book “Who’s Who in the Bible,” we

Know that Herod “had John the Baptist im-

prisoned and…ordered John’s execution.”

John had criticized Herod for marry-

ing the wife of Philip his half-brother.

From the Navarre Bible commentary,

We know that, “Jesus’ doings provoke the

Key question: ‘Who is He?’  The Gospel points

Out that the people were unsure as to

The answer and that Herod was perplexed.”

Saint John Paul II wrote, “Only the faith pro-

claimed by Peter, and with him by the Church

In every age, truly goes to the heart

And touches the depth of the mystery.”
