Jesus Reproached His Contemporaries

Matthew 11:16-19

From the Navarre Bible commentary,

We know that Jesus Christ was accused “of

Being a glutton and a drunkard, (and)

A friend of tax collectors and sinners.”

The deeds of Jesus Christ “bear clear witness

To who He is and what His mission is.”

Jesus Christ made reference to a song.

The group Mercy Me had not started yet.

When Pat Paulsen ran for president, he

Countered his opponents’ criticisms

Of himself with “picky, picky, picky.”

The sin that I have to confess the most

Is gluttony.  If I am not careful,

I may have to take up sumo wrestling.
