The Call of Matthew and Many Others

Matthew 9:9-13

Peter, Andrew, James, John were fishermen.

Matthew was a sinning tax collector.

Paul was eagerly destroying Christians.

Jesus Christ called them and many others.

The Navarre Bible notes are instructive.

“When God calls us, He does not expect us

To have great qualities; He wants us to

Listen carefully,” and respond promptly.

Matthew gave up “collaboration with

The oppressive Roman regime.”  He took

Up cooperation with Jesus Christ.

The Apostle Matthew wrote the first Gospel.

Jesus associated with sinners.

Thank you for associating with me.
