The Flight into Egypt, the Massacre

Matthew 2:13-18

From the Navarre Bible commentary,

We know that, Jesus is “like Jacob who

Went to Egypt.”  Christ is also like

The Israeli people who left Egypt.

Jesus and Moses were saved as babies.

They were later called to save God’s people.

Rachel would not be consoled for the dead.

Matthew saw the flight into Egypt and

The massacre of the Innocents as

“The fulfillment of God’s plan to estab-

lish a new” covenant through Jesus Christ.

The massacre of the holy inno-

cents reminds me of abortion.  I am

Pro life and so is my beloved wife.
