Trusting in God’s Fatherly Providence
Matthew 6:19-23
The Navarre Bible notes are instructive.
“Jesus teaches that the true treasure trove
Is made of good works done with an upright
Intention; these will obtain for us an
Eternal reward from God in heaven.”
Jesus said, “Do not lay up for yourselves
Treasure on earth.” Here is sound stewardship.
Save enough money for estate taxes.
Jesus Christ wisely taught that the eye is
“A lamp that provides the body with light.”
Aquinas wrote, “The eye refers to mo-
tive…if your intention is sound…direct-
ed towards God…all your actions, will be
Sound, sincerely directed towards good.”
