We published book four in our Sports and Faith Series, called Worthwhile Struggle. It was printed in America at Thomson Shore in Dexter, Michigan. And Worthwhile Struggle is a fitting title that describes many people’s lives today. We have an eye on the prize and keep going forward even when things get tough.
The author of the Sports and Faith Series is Patrick McCaskey of the Chicago Bears. Patrick’s books include many sports stories including some personal ones about growing up as a member of the McCaskey-Halas family. Membership in such a family certainly involves some privileges, but it also involves duty and responsibility. Duty is an integral part of the McCaskey’s DNA long before the Bears came into the picture. Pat’s family includes a strong history of military service, teachers and others who have lived life courageously. We have published four Sports and Faith books written by Patrick.
Our Sports and Faith Series offers a variety of content. We have stories of athletes (both men and women)–some put down their sports shoes and take up the Religious habit. Others achieve the highest level of excellence in sports. Many “take up the cross” in their lives. Historical figures grace our pages. People y0u’ve seen on television (Loyola’s Sister Jean, Bill Wennington, ) and others who should be seen, but are not.
Pat is also a Seamus Heaney fan and some of the great poet’s thoughts have found a place in our goals at Sporting Chance Press. As Seamus Heaney would say, “doing the right thing for the reward of doing the right thing…chosen values opted for and stood by.”
