Roquan Smith hales from the Georgia Bulldogs where he was a consensus All American, the SEC Defensive Player of the year, and the Dick Butkus Award recipient. A first round draft pick, Smith plays along several of the NFL’s best in the Chicago Bears defense, including Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Leonard Floyd, Danny Travathan, Prince Amukamara, Kyle Fuller, Adrian Amos, and Eddie Jackson.

At just 21 years old, Roquan Smith is one of the best young linebackers in football. In his rookie season he already have 108 tackles, 4 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. He scooped up his first interception of the season Sunday, December 9, against the Rams and ran it back for 22 yards.

The Bears defense racks up highlights each week and is gaining a national reputation for toughness as the season continues.  Smith’s list of accomplishments and great plays defies the odds after he held out all camp and was injured in the early part of the season. When you watch game film clips from you can see the effort and the smarts Smith uses during the games. As a speedy linebacker, he can hide at times behind the line play and then move to fill the holes.  He can run down wide receivers and tight ends even when the opposing team has called the perfect play.

Bear fans are enjoying the new Monsters of the Midway and looking forward to seeing how far the team can go in the playoffs.
